What are Rotary Action Groups?

Rotary Action Groups are independent, Rotary-affiliated groups made up of people from around the world who are experts in a field, such as economic development, peace, addiction prevention, the environment, or water. Rotary Action Groups provide assistance and support to Rotary clubs in planning and implementing community development and humanitarian service projects.  Rotary Action Groups are organized around the principal that our vocations give certain expertise to a particular community development or humanitarian service that can be used beyond their own club.

Action groups offer their technical expertise and support to help clubs plan and implement projects to increase our impact, one of Rotary's strategic priorities. This support includes helping clubs find partners, funding, and other resources. Action groups can also help clubs and districts prepare grant applications, conduct community assessments, and develop plans to monitor and evaluate their projects.

Read more about these activities in the Rotary Action Groups annual report  https://my.rotary.org/en/document/rotarian-action-groups-rag-annual-report

Find a Rotary Action Group that shares your passion.

How Rotary Action Groups Operate

  • Each group functions independently of Rotary International establishing its own rules, dues requirements, and administrative structure.
  • Membership is open to any individual.
  • Only Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Rotary Peace Fellows can serve in leadership roles.
  • Rotary Action Groups must adopt Rotary International’s standard bylaws and operate in accordance with Rotary policy.
  • Rotary Action Groups regularly collaborate with clubs and districts on service projects in their area of specialty.
  • Rotary Action Groups can help clubs and districts obtain funding or other assistance for their service projects.

Benefits of Rotary Action Groups

  • By joining a Rotary Action Group, you can engage in meaningful service activities outside your own club, district, or country.
  • By partnering with a Rotary Action Group, your club or district gains the support of experts for planning and implementing a project.
If you want to know more about individual Rotary Action Groups, please check the links above to contact the RAG directly first, but if you are having trouble getting in touch, or is you are a member of a RAG and are willing to be the local district 9620 contact and provide an inroduction for our district RAG pages, then please contact the D9620 RAG and Fellowship representative John Lane.
