District 9620 Disaster Recovery Grants
District 9620 has secured a Disaster Response Grant from the Rotary Foundation.  This grant has enabled us to offer clubs, on a reimbursement basis (requirement of the Rotary Foundation), District Disaster Recovery Grants to fund activities and projects that support relief and recovery efforts for families, across the District, that have been impacted by the current flood disaster. Support includes the provision of basic items such as water, food, medicine, and clothing.  It can also cover the costs associated with helping with the major clean-up of homes, for example cleaning products and equipment necessary to enable the clean up and to assist affected families to get back into their homes with basic needs such as fridges and washing machines (of a basic nature) to see them through until they can re-establish themselves.

Grants will be approved based on their eligibility, the club’s contribution to the project (financial or in kind) and the merit and benefits of the project.  Applications will be assessed and approved on a first come basis by a special Grants Sub-Committee comprising the Foundation Coordinator, the District Governor, the current District Grants Chair and the incoming District Grants Chair.  Applications will close once all grant funds have been committed.   Grants are limited to a maximum of $3,000 per club but clubs are encouraged to work together to enable larger grants.
Grant Applications are now open using the Application form downloadable below.

For further information please contact the District Foundation Coordinator PDG Elwyn Hodges.

PETS Rescheduled to 28-29 May
Please click on the button below for event details and an invitation to Presidents-elect to attend PETS 2022 - Mark 2.  We keep our fingers crossed that things will be a little less tumultuous this time around.

I understand that some incoming Presidents will be concerned that there will now only be one month between PETS and when you take office.  We still feel that the opportunity to get together can't be missed and that it's better late than never.  To address some of these concerns, however, I have included a link in your invitation to a document designed to guide  and assist you with preparing both for and during your year as President. It focuses on helping you to plan and monitor club activities monthly and also serves as a monthly reminder of activities and deadlines that apply to all Rotary clubs.  I hope that this will be of assistance to you along with the more general Learning Place activities also linked in the invite.

You will need to register using the link in the invitation and book your own accommodation as required.   The seminar cost for President-elects and their partner or proxy is $100 per head with payment details included in the invite.

About this e-bulletin
Welcome to the Gist! Rather than send multiple messages per week to club officers in the hope that they will channel your interests and pass on what is important to you, we will be sending one digest email per week using the Clubrunner platform which lists new things in the top section, and reminders of old news in the bottom section. That way, you only need to scan the top half of one email per week to get the Gist, and everyone gets the Gist!

This e-bulletin is published by your District Administrator and Webmaster to let Rotarians and any other subscribers know about what is happening in the district. The GIST is for time-sensitive brief stories sponsored by the District, a Rotary club, or a Rotary RAG or Fellowship.

  • District Announcements
  • Club event announcements
  • RAG and Fellowship event announcements
Event notices will run once only in the "Breaking News" section, and events will continue to be published down below in the "Event Reminders" section until the event has passed.

Articles that report on past events and projects, anything of enduring significance, and anything else that does not fit the GIST publishing guidelines should be sent to the District Newsletter editor at newsletter@rotary9620.org.

If you wish to cojmmunicat these, put them in an image or PDF file that can be linked as a download document.

  • Mandatory: Get the event in the Calendar (see above)
  • Mandatory: An image in square or landscape format to be the article. If you send an image that is in portrait format, it will be cropped to square according to the GIST editor's judgement. It's OK to send a PDF Flyer - the editor will just do a screenshot and use that.
  • Optional: SHORT explanatory text which will go under the image. 200 words max. Long explanations should go in the calendar entry.
