RAGs and Fellowships - Expanding the Rotary Experience

Rotary Fellowships are groups of individuals who globally unite around a common interest, vocation, or recreational activity with the primary purpose to network and further friendship.

Rotary Action Groups are independent, Rotary-affiliated groups made up of people from around the world who are experts in a field, such as economic development, peace, addiction prevention, the environment, or water.

Joining a RAG or fellowship allows you to simultaneously deepen the focus of your engagement with Rotary and broaden your contact with Rotarians globally.

To help Rotarians and Rotaractors in our district find the right RAG for fellowsip for them, DG Wendy Protehroe has appointed District RAGs and Fellowships Representative PDG John Lane to help close the connections, and we have also dedicated a portion of the District website to RAGs and fellowships. There you can find global directories of RAGs and Fellowships and also contact local RAG or Fellowship ambassadors where we have one in our district.

If you are a member of a RAG or Fellowship and are willing to be the local contact for your group, please get in touch with PDG John Lane using the button below.

Shelterbox Deploys to Haiti - You can Help

The death toll from the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti has risen to more than 1,300, with an estimated 8,000 homes damaged or destroyed and thousands more displaced. The search and rescue to find survivors is the priority right now.

The devastation could soon worsen as Haitians are now bracing for Tropical Depression Grace, which is predicted to reach Haiti tonight, and could bring heavy rain, flooding, and landslides. Many will be facing these conditions without a roof over their head.

ShelterBox is deploying an operations team to the region. Please Click the button below where you can find out more and donate.

About this e-bulletin
Welcome to the Gist! Rather than send multiple messages per week to club officers in the hope that they will channel your interests and pass on what is important to you, we will be sending one digest email per week using the Clubrunner platform which lists new things in the top section, and reminders of old news in the bottom section. That way, you only need to scan the top half of one email per week to get the Gist, and everyone gets the Gist!
This e-bulletin is published by your District Administrator and Webmaster to let Rotarians and any other subscribers know about what is happening in the district.
Important announcements and event notices will run once only in the "Breaking News" section, and events will continue to be published down below in the "Event Reminders" section until the event has passed.
Clubs are encouraged to send us news of upcoming events that they think members of other clubs might be interested in attending. A good event notice might include some or all of the following. It must be actionable in some way if it is to have an impact.
  • Teaser text (max: 200 words)
  • Follow-on text (optional)
  • An image to catch the eye (could be a flyer image)
  • Information on when, where
  • Contact for the event (must be a Rotarian or Rotaractor within the district)
  • Information on how to register interest if applicable. (A link is best, but an email or phone number is also OK)

Where appropriate, events will also be entered into the district calendar and displayed on the website.

If you are not an active or honorary Rotarian in district 9620, or you would like this to be delivered to a different mailbox from your Rotary primary email address, you can click on the subscribe link below to add an address to the database of recipients.

Please send event info to:

We are always interested in hearing your feedback and suggestions on this.
