We’re celebrating Membership and New Club Development Month in August. We know that the main reasons our members join and stay with Rotary are community service and friendship. That makes this month the perfect time to learn more about how to further engage with our global community and make a positive difference.
Learn more about how these programs and opportunities can enhance your membership experience on the Rotary Service in Action blog.
Rotary Community Corps support our Action Plan
Rotary Community Corps (RCCs) increase our impact by involving community members who aren’t Rotary members in service activities and introducing new members to Rotary. The 2021 Rotary Programs and Offerings Survey found that many members who joined Rotary in 2019 and 2020 had participated in this program. It also found that members’ experience with RCCs was overwhelmingly positive, with 90% saying that working with an RCC deepened their relationship with the community, enhanced their understanding of local needs and priorities, and provided more opportunities for sustained local impact
Each year, Rotary surveys presidents whose clubs sponsor at least one RCC. In the latest survey:
58% said working with an RCC increased the club’s local service impact
57% said it enhanced awareness of Rotary in the community
13% said it grew the club’s membership
If you want to partner more closely with community members to enhance your service projects, consider sponsoring an RCC. These collaborations help people better understand your club’s work and attract prospective members who share our commitment to service.
New Learning Centre Course: Public Relations and Your Club
Rotary’s newest self-paced learning module, Public Relations and Your Club, is now available. Take this 15-minute online course and learn strategies for using media and public relations to gain visibility, increase awareness of club initiatives, and promote your impact in the community.
New areas of focus icons
Rotary’s area of focus icons promote the causes that reflect the critical humanitarian issues that our members address worldwide. The Brand Centre has newly redesigned graphics for individual areas of focus and the whole list in various colours and easier-to-use formats. You’ll also find guidelines for using them. Use these icons in social media, on websites, and in other materials to show the causes your club supports

Welcome to the Gist! Rather than send multiple messages per week to club officers in the hope that they will channel your interests and pass on what is important to you, we will be sending one digest email per week using the Clubrunner platform which lists new things in the top section, and reminders of old news in the bottom section. That way, you only need to scan the top half of one email per week to get the Gist, and everyone gets the Gist!
This e-bulletin is published by your District Administrator and Webmaster to let Rotarians and any other subscribers know about what is happening in the district.
Important announcements and event notices will run once only in the "Breaking News" section, and events will continue to be published down below in the "Event Reminders" section until the event has passed.
Clubs are encouraged to send us news of upcoming events that they think members of other clubs might be interested in attending. A good event notice might include some or all of the following. It must be actionable in some way if it is to have an impact.
Teaser text (max: 200 words)
Follow-on text (optional)
An image to catch the eye (could be a flyer image)
Information on when, where
Contact for the event (must be a Rotarian or Rotaractor within the district)
Information on how to register interest if applicable. (A link is best, but an email or phone number is also OK)
Where appropriate, events will also be entered into the district calendar and displayed on the website.
If you are not an active or honorary Rotarian in district 9620, or you would like this to be delivered to a different mailbox from your Rotary primary email address, you can click on the subscribe link below to add an address to the database of recipients.
