Featured Conference Speaker - Krish Maharaj

Krish Maharaj

Mental Health and Performance

A Director and Psychologist at The Mind and Movement Company, Krish applies psychology and brain-based research and practice to help clients - individuals, organisations and communities - to improve in the areas of Health, Well-Being and Performance. Having applied his skills to sports performance and team psychology for Team Fiji during the Commonwealth Games 2018, The Pacific Games, Samoa 2019, and the Toyko Olympics (2020/1), Krish applies his talent to his pastime passion: football. But his focus on mind and movement for better health and wellbeing is at the crux of mental health improvement for young people striving to compete and overcome today's challenges.

Gunilla Ostberg - Member of the ESRAG Board of Directors

Save the date !

Join a  growing group of ESRAG members who are interested in helping reduce plastic in the world at its next set of meetings March 7, 2022, at 9am and 6pm PST.

Meetings are held at two times to accommodate attendees from five continents and many time zones, but the goal is identical: to learn, plan and take action to change the way we use and dispose of plastic.

The featured speaker is Gunilla Ostberg, a sustainability and sustainable development expert, consultant and author from Sweden and member of the ESRAG Board of Directors.  She will be speaking about a new study released by the Stockholm Resilience Center that has just announced that plastic waste has vastly exceeded safe planetary boundaries.

Please save the date, and consider inviting a friend to attend: we are going to need a lot of good people working together to get to the roots of the world problem of waste plastic.

ESRAG is the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group.

It was formed to empower members of the Rotary family to take actions to sustain our environment, and particularly to stabilize the climate.
(Membership in Rotary is not a requirement to join ESRAG)

RAWCS Tonga Appeal

The effects of the Volcano and Tsunami on January 15th will be far-reaching, impacting the Tonga Community for months, possibly years to come.

Communication remains problematic with international and inter-island call still no possible due to the damage to the undersea cable.

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) will be working with Rotary New Zealand World Community Service (RNZWCS) and Rotary Club of Nuku’alofa (Tonga) in providing aid and assistance to the affected communities’ and restoring their livelihoods.

RAWCS has registered a Rotary Australia Relief Fund project to seek financial assistance from Rotary Clubs, the public and private sector.

Donations to the RAWCS Relief Fund are tax deductible.

How to get your news on the district Facebook page
About this e-bulletin
Welcome to the Gist! Rather than send multiple messages per week to club officers in the hope that they will channel your interests and pass on what is important to you, we will be sending one digest email per week using the Clubrunner platform which lists new things in the top section, and reminders of old news in the bottom section. That way, you only need to scan the top half of one email per week to get the Gist, and everyone gets the Gist!

This e-bulletin is published by your District Administrator and Webmaster to let Rotarians and any other subscribers know about what is happening in the district.

Important announcements and event notices will run once only in the "Breaking News" section, and events will continue to be published down below in the "Event Reminders" section until the event has passed.

Clubs are encouraged to send us news of upcoming events that they think members of other clubs might be interested in attending. A good event notice might include some or all of the following. It must be actionable in some way if it is to have an impact.
  • Teaser text (max: 200 words)
  • Follow-on text (optional)
  • An image to catch the eye (could be a flyer image)
  • Information on when, where
  • Contact for the event (must be a Rotarian or Rotaractor within the district)
  • Information on how to register interest if applicable. (A link is best, but an email or phone number is also OK)

Where appropriate, events will also be entered into the district calendar and displayed on the website.

If you are not an active or honorary Rotarian in district 9620, or you would like this to be delivered to a different mailbox from your Rotary primary email address, you can click on the subscribe link below to add an address to the database of recipients.

Please send event info to:  gist@rotary9620.org

We are always interested in hearing your feedback and suggestions on this.
