What is involved for Rotary clubs in forming a new Probus club?

  1. Basically, just determine if there is an opportunity and a need in your community
  2. Contact the District Probus Contact (There is a form on the right of this web page that helps you do that.)
  3. I will then contact Probus South Pacific Ltd (PSPL) and seek approval to start the process of forming a club.
  4. They will research possible venues and approve a name in consultation with your club. Then with the help of the Probus Association of Qld, select a venue and set a date for an “Interest or Foundation Meeting”.
  5. PSPL will produce brochures and pamphlets to distribute to places that potential members visit. The brochures will have names and email addresses of PAQ Probus members as contacts for r.s.v.p or more information.
  6. PSPL will also arrange newspaper and community radio advertising where applicable.
  7. Your club with your agreement will to be named as a sponsor and can assist by helping spread the news by word of mouth and contacts of club members.
  8. There is no cost to your Rotary Club, other than a small donation to help the club get started, and/or supply of a President’s Collar with your club’s name as sponsor.
  9. At the Foundation meeting, the President of your Rotary Club can attend and give a short message of congratulations.
That’s all there is to it – what a great way to enrich the quality of life of the senior members of your community and for your club to be seen as “Creating Hope in the World”
