Rotary Brisbane River City is partnering with Be an Elf and their Christmas appeal. Children and teens write a wish list letter to Santa, which is then filled by generous donors. Some of the letters received are heart breaking. They ask for towels, sheets, school shoes and lunchboxes for Christmas. Be and Elf delivers to houses with no furniture and often find that the young people are living in very insecure situations. They may be couch surfing, living in cars or in crowded housing commission homes of 2-3 families, if in fact they are not homeless. Last year Be an Elf delivered over 5,000 presents across areas such as Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich and Gold Coast. This year they are hoping to help out families in need in Lismore that have been affected in the floods this year. There are number in the ways we need your help:
- Assistance with finding a warehouse or large shop that Be an Elf can operate from and store presents. Be an Elf are in desperate need of a space in Beenleigh, Logan or Brisbane;
- Monetary Donations; or
- You can Be an Elf and purchase a present to make a child Christmas.
