Polio Plus Society: DG Partner Project 2024-25

Today, we stand on the brink of a monumental achievement in public health: the eradication of polio. This devastating illness primarily affects children, leading to paralysis and, in some cases, death. By eradicating polio, we can prevent untold suffering and ensure that no child will ever again experience the debilitating effects of this disease.

The eradication of polio is a testament to the power of global cooperation. Countries, organizations, and individuals from all walks of life have come together with a common purpose, showing us what we can achieve when united by a shared goal. We have a moral imperative to finish the job. The tools, knowledge, and resources to eradicate polio are within our grasp. To stop short of complete eradication would be to abandon the progress we have made and to condemn future generations to the threat of resurgence.
The final push to eradicate polio is not just a health initiative; it is a symbol of what humanity can achieve together. It represents hope, resilience, and our collective commitment to a better world. Let us all do our part to ensure that polio becomes a disease of the past, remembered only in the history books.
For the coming year, we challenge our clubs to increase their financial commitment to the Polio Plus fund. We encourage Rotary members and others to pledge at least A$100 per year to the PolioPlus Fund until polio is eradicated from the face of the earth.
John’s partner project for the coming year will be the support of End Polio, ensuring that we can place this disease into the history books forever. Consider the magic in our mission to eradicate polio. Decades ago, this seemed like an impossible dream. Yet, through unwavering dedication, strategic partnerships, and the relentless efforts of Rotarians worldwide, we are on the brink of making history. This is not just magic—it is the power of Rotary in action.
